GitHub is contacted when you intentionally scan a profile or repository, while configured Git remotes are contacted when remote information or remote Git operations are requested.

Website Analytics
The Bow Git Vault website uses Google Analytics through the Potter Service Sites measurement stream to understand site traffic, page visits and important link clicks. Analytics records the website hostname and page path, allowing traffic to git.potterservice.com to be separated from other Potter Service websites.
